Back Yard mates is the idea of two mates - Nick Chiera and Paul Longfield, who were long time neighbours in a previous life. They were both time poor professionals.

Nick was in Sales and is passionate about gardens but without enough time to dedicate to it, he was happy to outsource his gardening maintenance needs. However he became frustrated with the lack of reliability, attention to detail and poor customer service the industry generally delivered.

Paul was in IT but was generally regarded as the "Neighbourhood Handyman" helping many with their general home repairs. From assembling flat-pack furniture, to fixing holes in walls, to repairing fences and gates, through to building decks and specialty sheds/outdoor rooms, he had accumulated a great deal of experience along the way.
